SPAIN’S Met Office (AEMET) has today warned of a gota fría predicted to hit the south and southeast commencing Sunday night.

A statement said the warm weather enjoyed this week will be taken over by a cold Atlantic blast due to sweep West-East across Spain from Saturday.

When the chilly front hits the warmer Mediterranean air over south and southeastern Spain a night of ‘heavy rain’ and ‘storms’ is expected to ensue.

The statement admitted ‘uncertainty’ over the precise location of the freak weather event – known as an ‘isolated depression at high altitude’ or DANA.
