The wine from Bodegas Montecillo, DOCa Rioja’s third oldest winery, was selected as number one by critics who awarded the wine 91 points.

Montecillo Crianza is made from Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes from vines located in Rioja Alta and spends 18 months in American oak barrels, followed by at least six months in the bottle.

The wine, which is sold in most supermarkets for just under €9 a bottle, was previously picked up a number of accolades including a gold medal from Mundus Vini, 91 points from wine magazine Decanter who featured the bottle on  the cover of their Best of Spain issue.
