New group opposes Ronda Marbella motorway
January 27, 2008 • Andalucia • 0 Comments
THE IU party has joined environmental groups in slamming proposals to link Ronda to Marbella with a toll motorway.
The group insists that the 350 million euro motorway is unnecessary and is only being proposed to create opportunities for development and speculation alongside it.
The party argues that the environmental cost is far too high when considerable time could be saved by merely upgrading the existing road.
Málaga boss José Antonio Castro said: “This project is straight out of the Gil era. It is all electoral posturing and is a completely crazy and unsustainable idea.”
