POLICE have arrested a man after a priest was found dead at his home in Cordoba.

The body of Tomás Pérez Escudero, 75, was discovered in the bedroom of his home in the village of Villafranca de Cordoba by a home help.

Police believe he had been beaten around the head with an oil heater.

An un-named Romanian national, 22, was later arrested in Madrid, where the priest’s Toyota Corolla vehicle was also discovered.
Residents claim the detainee was a friend of the priest, who had been at the parish for 32 years.
