A BRITISH couple who left their children alone at a hotel on the Costa del Sol while they went partying have been handed a suspended jail term and a ban from seeing their kids.

The three children – aged just four, two and six months respectively – were found alone in the early hours at Holiday World Resort in Benalmadena while the couple were out on the lash.

Officials found the hotel room in notable disorder and lacking in adequate conditions, according to reports.

The young baby later tested positive for cocaine.

The father, 41, and mother, 28, who remain unnamed, have been handed a suspended prison sentence of nearly a year and a half each.

They have also been banned from seeing their children for two years.

“Court No. 3 of the Investigating Division of the Court of First Instance of Torremolinos today sentenced two British parents arrested for abandoning their three children to one year and four months in prison for committing the offense of abandonment,” a spokesperson for Andalucia’s High Court of Justice said.

“The sentence was delivered as part of a plea bargain deal after the pair admitted their crime.

“In addition, the ruling also establishes that they are disqualified for two years and eight months from exercising parental authority and for a period of two years they will be prohibited from going within 500 metres of the children.”

The children have been placed under the guardianship of Andalucia’s social services, who are in contact with the British consulate to return the kids to family in the UK.
