A SEX attacker who served 16 years behind bars for 16 rapes has been forced to leave a Granada town.

José Rodríguez Salvador, known as the Rapist of Valle d’Hebron, was staying with his parents in Iznalloz following his release from a Barcelona prison in the early hours of September 21.

However following newspaper reports making public his whereabouts, Salvador was forced to leave the town after his family was faced by protests from angry residents.

The release of Salvador – who was originally given a 311-year jail term in 1991 for his series of attacks between winter 1990 and summer of the following year – was slammed by victims of the rapist, whose numbers could be as high as 40.

“Many of the victims feel mistreated by the judiciary for this early release,” a lawyer representing four of the victims said before adding an appeal against the decision to release Salvador has been launched.

The current location of Salvador is unknown.
