Protest against police “racism”

by

MORE than 1,000 people have marched through the centre of Granada to protest against the city’s “racist” local police force.

In a demonstration organised by the immigrant help group Social Forum, protestors called for an end to the violent treatment African migrants sometimes receive from the city’s police.

“A serious investigation into the actions of some of local police officers needs to be undertaken,” Social Forum leader José María Martín said.

A Granada council spokesman said the City Hall will investigate any complaints of abuse, violence and racism.
