Spain out of Olympic football tournament

SPAIN are out of the Olympic football competition after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Honduras in Newcastle.

The pre-tournament favourites and current European Champions conceded an early goal thanks to Jerry Bengtson’s header.

Chelsea’s Juan Mata missed several chances to give Spain the victory they needed to stay in the competition after a defeat in their previous game.

Coach Luis Milla said: “The whole squad and delegation is disappointed, the success of the senior team may have put us under extra pressure.”
