English ref to be investigated over alleged Spanish slur

Referee Mark Clattenburg with Chelsea player Juan Mata

A PREMIER League referee is at the centre of a racism row after allegedly calling a player a ‘Spanish t**t’.

The FA is set to review video evidence from Chelsea’s game against Manchester United on Sunday after official Mark Clattenburg was accused of hurling the insult at a Chelsea player.

Spanish international Juan Mata was the target of the alleged comment although fellow Spaniards Fernando Torres and Cesar Azpilicueta also played in the match.

The referee is also in hot water after being accused of racially abusing Chelsea star John Obi Mikel after showing the Nigerian a yellow card.

  1. Chelsea have now dropped their complaint against Clattenburg, that he allegedly directed “inappropriate language” towards another of their players, believed to be the midfielder Juan Mata.

Incidentally, if the Olive Press wants to see some real racism towards Spanish people, all the paper needs to do is to go through the “Your comments” pieces that follow every article. Unbelievable.

If any of those disgusting racist comments were written by foreign residents of Spain, I wonder why they chose to live here in the first place.
