THE third heat wave has arrived.
According to the Meteorological Agency, 16 provinces are on yellow alert for temperatures rising above 38 degrees: Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Avila, Lleida, Madrid, Badajoz and Mallorca.
Galicia remains the best possible place to escape to, with clouds and light rain on the forecast.
I’m not surprised about Galicia being the coolest place and especially about the rain, that is normal. Lots of Madrilenos have their summer vacation in Galicia for precisely this reason and they love the rain. The northern rias being their preference. The Festa Celta Mundo should be in full swing now in Ortigueria, fantastic free camping and cold showers just behind the beach – jump in your car and get yourself there. Celtic music from around the world by day and great rock music by night.
Merluza a la plancha/ empanada (it’s crap everywhere else in Spain) and the year round caldo gallego, as for empanada the same. Don’t mention flamenco, you may get decked whilst listening to the pipers, these and the Euskadi are the original Iberians.
High 30sC, don’t make me laugh it will be in the low 40sC in Guadix.
Living in Southern Galicia we have had the driest period for a few years.
Temps are hitting the high30’s low40’s.
The weather alerts are mainly for the north east where rain and thunder are predicted over the coming weekend.
