MANILVA has banned the iconic floating lanterns from its Full Moon Festival.hot balloons

The Luna Llena fiesta takes places on August 19 this year on Sabinillas beach but the miniature hot air balloons will be conspicuous by their absence.

Despite the Thai-style aerial decorations consistently being the festival’s biggest draw, the municipality banned their use due to fire risk.

Last year, the flying lanterns blew off the beach and into forestal Manilva, setting off brush fires.
