AUTHORITIES have been forced to close the MA23 access road to Malaga airport due to a major fire.

It comes after an emergency call at 14:55 alerted firefighters to a huge fire at a nearby recycling plant.

The plant, which recycles paper and cardboard on the Villa Rosa de Malaga industrial estate, continues to bellow thick black smoke as emergency services tackle the blaze.

An alternative route on the MA21 remains open.
