Strongest Earthquake Yet In Recent Sequence Hits Spain S Murcia Region

AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale shook parts of the Murcia region today at 1.46am(November 9).

It’s the strongest-recorded tremor in a recent sequence of quakes to have struck Alicante Province and Murcia.

The latest incident was centred on Caravaca de la Cruz according to the National Geographic Institute.

It was felt across a wide area of Murcia including Buillas, Cartagena, Cehegin, Lorca, Moratella, Mula, and Yecla.

Aftershocks were recorded in Cehegin at 1.5 and Caravaca again with 2.1 on the Richter scale.

Emergency services received 17 calls from concerned residents but no damage was reported.
