A MANHUNT is underway for a suspect in the brutal killing of a 45-year-old Hungarian woman in Malaga province.
The victim was found with multiple stab wounds and a cut to her neck inside a home in the Las Jacarandas urbanisation, Benahavis, at around 9.50am on Tuesday.
The Spanish government’s delegate to Andalucia, Pedro Fernandez, said on Wednesday there was ‘no indication’ the gruesome killing was an act of gender violence.
“There is no evidence that the suspect … had any current, former or romantic relationship with the woman,” Fernandez told reporters.
He added that authorities were treating the case as a fatal stabbing.
According to Spanish media reports, the current suspect was identified following a statement from the victim’s daughter but has yet to be brought in for questioning.
Fernandez said the victim and suspect appeared to know each other.
Witnesses reported hearing loud screams coming from the Las Jacarandas home before seeing a man hurry away from the scene in a car.
They later told police there was a large amount of blood inside the property.
Fernandez said the Guardia Civil investigation was continuing in the hope of soon arresting “the person who committed this cruel crime.”
