SPAIN’S unemployment total for July stood at 2,311,499- the lowest figure for the month since 2007.
The number of jobless actually rose by 0.85%- 19,517 people- compared to June, according to the Ministry of Labour.
It pointed out that this ‘atypical’ increase is partly explained by the fact that regularisation of foreign migrants has increased the number of unemployed.

The Ministry added that after labour law reforms, unemployment is now increasingly less sensitive to seasonality.
Social Security affiliations reached a new all-time high in July with 22,508,065 registered- 41,727 more than in June’, which itself was a record.
That was driven by foreigners having being regularised in Spain.
On a year-to-year basis, the jobless total fell by 3.87%.
According to sectors, construction posted a monthly increase of 1.53%, while unemployment in the service sector rose by 0.50%.
Industry and agriculture climbed by 0.27% and 0.17%, respectively.
Female unemployment increased in July by 7,707 to 1,396,016; and that of men by 11,810, to 915,483.
The jobless total among people under 25 years of age fell by 238 to 159,562.
Foreign employment increased in July by 66,046 people, to a total of 3.5 million employed, 15.6% of the total.
Labour Minister, Yolanda DÃaz, said the latest job totals and social security figures were ‘good news for the country’.
She insisted the government will continue to promote ‘policies that improve the lives of working people’.
