A MANHUNT is underway after masked thugs tied up, gagged and beat an elderly couple during a horrific house robbery in Marbella.
The three thieves made off with cash and jewels after storming the villa in upmarket Nagüeles late on Thursday, according to Diario SUR.
Armed with a metal bar and a gun, the gang attacked and bound the homeowners – reported to be in their 70s – before splitting them up and taking them to separate rooms.
They then threatened the woman at gunpoint as they demanded the couple’s valuables.
Emergency services only arrived at the scene hours after the raiders had left, with paramedics treating the woman on site for a panic attack.
The gang reportedly arrived at the villa shortly before 11pm, apparently managing to get inside without forcing the lock.
They wore gloves as well as clothing designed to conceal their faces, sources close to the investigation have told Diario SUR.
Once inside, they are alleged to have used violence to intimidate the couple before gathering cash and jewellery and fleeing the property.
The value of the haul has not been disclosed, but initial estimates suggest it was substantial.
For reasons that remain unclear, police and emergency services were not alerted until after 3am – more than four hours after the raid began.
Policia Nacional officers arrived at the villa but found no sign of the three suspects in the surrounding area.
Investigators are continuing their probe in a bid to identify and locate the three alleged attackers.
No arrests have been reported so far.
