Couple arrested after making thousands from stolen treasures in Cadiz

A COUPLE have been arrested for cashing in on the sale of stolen archaeological treasures.

Police claim the Cadiz couple sold thousands of plundered items through various online auction houses.

Investigators believe they made €103,000 in two years selling over 5,000 items.

The hoard – now donated to Cadiz’s city museum – included Roman coins, Visigoth pottery and even vases dating from the Phoenician era.

The couple, from San Fernando, have links with an antiquities smuggler from Murcia.
