Children at Malaga’s Ciudad de los Niños hope to get new pool by the summer

THE orphans at Malaga’s Ciudad de los Niños children’s home are one step nearer to making a big splash this summer.

“Everyone enjoyed the day, especially the children”

Thanks to a fundraising day by charity LIVE in Torrox, another 1500 euros was raised towards the cost of installing a new pool.

The Olive Press started a Christmas appeal after they lost their last pool due a compulsory purchase order, seizing land to build a motorway.

Now the 50-strong group hope to soon have the 55,000 euros needed for a new one.

At the fundraising bash at El Ancla restaurant, supporters raised a total of 1500 euros. A crowd of well-wishers turned out to support the event and meet some of the children from the La Ciudad de Los Niños.

“Everyone enjoyed the day, especially the children,” said Brian Marsh, chairman of LIVE. “We want to have the pool installed for when the school summer holiday starts at the end of June. We still need more money though.”

Nice order of priorities there from the Spanish authorities.
