Arriate Romeria

romeria

HITCH the wagon and rev up the tractor for the annual outing with the Romeria.

Here, the residents of Arriate, near Ronda, dress up to the nines for their five km journey up to nearby woodland for the usual antics.

It’s flamenco dresses, rebujitos and raucous fun on the slow three-hour hike up to the best available picnic spot, or a splendid paella.

And then it’s the long walk home with a sore head the next day.
