Spain’s killer cucumbers

ANDALUCIAN cucumbers are being blamed for a deadly E.coli outbreak that has already left 16 dead and 330 in hospital.

The outbreak, described by health officials as the biggest ever of its kind, has been traced to two organic farms in Malaga and Almeria provinces.

Most of the cases have been restricted to Germany, where the contaminated vegetables were sold.

Smaller outbreaks have been reported in Austria, Sweden, Denmark and last night Spain.

As many as 1,000 people are expected to need hospital treatment.
