Junta grant delay may cause disabled centre to close

A DISABLED association is facing closure after it failed to secure grants from the Junta.

The Amival centre in Velez-Malaga has been left struggling after suffering delays in grants from the Junta since 2009.

Amival, which opened in 1999 and employs 22 people – all with physical disabilities – has been unable to pay wages after seeing contributions fall dramatically.

The Junta now owes the employment centre a staggering 206,000 euros.

Mayor Francisco Delgado has denounced the cuts as ‘unacceptable’ and is demanding the outstanding amount be paid.
