World Heritage site would protect Alhambra area

A NEW initiative aims to have the Sacromonte area of Granada declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It would put a halt to a controversial scheme to build a luxury development on the site of the now derelict Cortijo de Jesus del Valle.

The PSOE is leading the campaign, which would see the protection of a triangular area taking in the Alhambra, Albaicin and Sacromonte caves district.
