Benefit cheat doctor escapes prison

A DOCTOR who fraudulently claimed 120,000 euros in benefits while owning a holiday home in Spain has been handed a 12-month suspended sentence.

Dr Barbara Longley, 60, received housing and council tax benefits despite owning a three-bedroom property in Alicante.

Hove court heard how she also received income support while continuing to draw an NHS pension, which she failed to declare.
