Spanish Olympic medallist joins Cirque du Soleil

A SPANISH Olympic medallist has decided swap her swimming cap for trapeze swings and has run away with the Cirque du Soleil.

Synchronised swimmer Margalida Crespi will train in the art of circus performance in Montreal before starting work in Las Vegas with the group.

Roughly 36% of the pioneering circus group come from sport and Crespi has the technical background and discipline to tackle her new profession.

The 2012 bronze medallist said the artistic and personal opportunities are incomparable and she looks forward to having more time for herself.
