Primark’s opening of biggest Spanish store draws Madrid crowds

HUGE queues snaked down Madrid’s Gran Via at the opening of Spain’s biggest Primark.

Bargain hunters thronged to what is the Irish company’s second-largest store in the world, with its five floors, 12,400sqm and 573 employees.

The grand unveiling of the flagship shop signals new Primark’s Spanish strategy.

The retail giants had concentrated on outlets in shopping malls on the outskirts of urban areas, but are now opening new stores in city centres.
