Lidl now pays its Spanish workforce more than Mercadona

THE LIDL THINGS: Workers paid more than at Mercadona

MERCADONA workers taking home an annual salary of €15,150 are now earning less than employees at Lidl.

The German budget supermarket chain has signed a Spanish contract confirming full time employees will earn €15,257 per year which represents a 13% increase to €8.5 per hour.

Lidl has also committed to keeping at least 75% of its workforce on permanent contracts, while at Mercadona 98% already boast job security of this kind.
