Malaga airportA SECURITY guard at Malaga airport has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs to the UK.

He was arrested with two other men as they tried to board a flight to London Gatwick airport with 4.5kg of marijuana in their hand luggage.

The men, all Spanish nationals between the ages of 30 and 43, are believed to belong to a drug smuggling ring.

A police statement read: “One of those arrested worked as a security guard at the airport and he allowed – in connivance with the other two who were arrested – drugs to be transported in their hand luggage.”

Police had acted on a tip off, and it is not yet known how much drugs they have previously brought to the UK.
