Palma de Mallorca courts paralysed by unprecedented cyber attacks

Cyber Attack
BALEARIC BATTERING: Over 5,000 cyber attacks hit island since 2015

PALMA’S courts were paralysed following May’s unprecedented global cyber attack.

Trials at the court were delayed as the Ministry of Justice launched an investigation into the cause of the attack, which paralysed systems across the world.

Court staff were told not to turn on their computers following the attack, which fed a virus into the computers.

The attack disrupted the extortion trial of businessman Pepe Tirado, who is also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The cyber attack also delayed proceedings in the case of 19 suspected drug dealers arrested by the Guardia Civil in Operation Valley.
