A BRITISH man has died abseiling down a mountain on the Costa Blanca.
The unidentified 36-year-old was accompanied by a woman who was airlifted to hospital with a broken leg.
The man died after falling 80ft while abseiling down the Monte Ponoig mountain near Benidorm.
One local source told The Sun: “At this stage it’s looking like the abseil anchor broke away.”
The woman is believed to be British, although this has not been confirmed.
Monte Ponoig is nicknamed ‘Sleeping Lion’ by locals, because of the shape its shadow casts on the nearby town of Polop.
The fatal accident happened at 4.30pm on Tuesday.
