The highly coveted competition shows off some of the most talented snapshots from around the world – at dizzying heights that can only be reached by drone.

Spanish photographer Ignacio Medem shot this stunning snap in the Asturias region in northwest Spain. The image was commended in the nature category.

The breathtaking picture – called Bouncing Waves – was selected as one of the  45 top-ranked pictures that will be showcased in the ‘Above Us Only Sky’ exhibition.

The event, which runs from October 24 to November 29, will take place at the Accademia dei Fisiocritici in Siena, one of the oldest Italian science museums.
