A SPANISH woman convicted of killing her new-born baby has been taken into custody after evading police for two weeks.
Officers arrested Yolanda Moreno on Wednesday evening after she went on the run instead of reporting to prison to begin serving her life sentence.Â
According to Europa Press, the 26-year-old has been convicted of killing her baby after throwing the new-born into a bin shortly after giving birth.
The arrest took place in Manacor, Mallorca, at around 8.30pm, following a joint operation between the Policia Nacional and the Guardia Civil.Â
Officers had been searching for her for approximately two weeks after she failed to appear before the Balearics provincial court.

The manhunt began immediately after the verdict was issued on March 22, when a jury found her responsible for the death of her newborn daughter.
Moreno has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to investigators, the tragic events date back to November 3, 2023.
The woman, who was around 26 to 27 weeks pregnant, gave birth inside a vehicle while accompanied by two relatives – the baby’s aunt and uncle.
Despite being close to a hospital, they did not seek medical help.
Instead, the mother handed the newborn to the uncle, Gustavo Pretel, who then threw the baby into a bin before they all fled the scene.
Pretel was also sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole, while the baby’s aunt, Rosario Morena, received a fine of €5,400 for failing to provide assistance.
The post-mortem examination determined that the baby died from cardiorespiratory arrest due to a lack of medical attention.

The situation was worsened by the infant’s premature condition and a head injury.
Forensic experts confirmed the baby was still alive when the injuries occurred.
In a strongly worded ruling, the judge said the actions of those involved showed a ‘lack of affection’ and a clear intention to ‘end the situation.’
The court concluded they acted in a ‘particularly vile, perverse, treacherous and cowardly’ way, fully aware of the danger to the child.
During the trial, the mother claimed she believed the baby was not alive and described it as ‘the biggest mistake of her life.’
However, expert testimony and forensic evidence showed that both Moreno and Pretel knew the newborn was alive when they abandoned her.
Investigators said the evidence clearly demonstrated that those involved understood the gravity of their actions from the moment the child was born until she was left in the bin.
