A BRITISH man has gone missing in Barcelona after failing to board his flight home, sparking a search with friends and police on both sides of the Channel.
Daniel Thomas, 51, was on holiday in the Catalan capital from April 14 and was due to fly back to the UK on April 18.
He has not been seen or heard from since lunchtime that Saturday, the Daily Mirror reports.
The last known contact came through an Instagram account belonging to a Barcelona airport worker, who relayed a message that Thomas had lost — or had stolen — his passport, phone, money and bank cards.
A friend, Alix Harvey, issued a public appeal on social media urging anyone with information to come forward.
“Missing in Barcelona. Daniel Thomas, 51. White, British, Male,” the friend wrote.
“Was on holiday in Barcelona from Tuesday 14th April and was due back on Saturday 18th April but missed his flight home.”
Harvey confirmed that UK and Spanish police had been informed, as had the British Consulate.
“He doesn’t speak Spanish and needs to get to a police station or the British Consulate so arrangements can be made to get him home,” she added.
Anyone who has seen Daniel Thomas or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the British Consulate in Barcelona or Spanish police.
A photo of Daniel Thomas has not yet been released publicly.
