Parking is about to get easier in Estepona as new €1 a day car park with 300 spaces is ‘85% complete’

LOOKING for a parking space in Estepona is about to get easier as a new €1 a day car park with 300 spaces is nearing completion.

Estepona’s sixth public parking area, built next to the Nuestra Señora de Carmen church, is ‘85% complete’ according to the town’s council.

With three underground levels of parking, the El Carmen car park will add 300 spaces to Estepona’s existing 2,000 parking spots.

Construction on the project began in February 2024, with total costs reaching around €10 million, supported in part by a €1.4 million injection from the EU’s ‘Next Generation’ fund.

Completion of the car park was slated for December 2025, but the council attributes delays to the project’s central location, which has required working with ‘great caution’ around existing buildings.

Alongside the new car park, the surrounding area is also being upgraded with paving underway on Calle Guadiaro, while surfaces have already been improved on Calle Manuel Navarro Mollor.

With construction already taking over two years, it will still be a few more months before parking in Estepona gets a much-needed upgrade.
