Madrid on yellow alert for storms, hail and strong winds

SPAIN’s national weather agency has issued a yellow storm warning for Madrid city and its wider metropolitan area, active from midday until 9pm on Thursday.

AEMET has warned that storms arriving on Thursday 7 May could bring strong winds and hail during the nine-hour alert window.

The yellow alert is the lowest of the three formal AEMET warning levels but indicates conditions judged potentially dangerous to the public.

Emergencias Madrid, the capital’s emergency services coordination body, urged residents and visitors to remain alert to conditions throughout the afternoon and evening.

Updated forecasts and alert information can be found at aemet.es.
