THE family of a ‘vulnerable’ man have recalled the horrifying moment he was savagely beaten to death during a road rage incident in Sevilla.
The victim, 49-year-old fairground worker Angel Luis VV, was taking down a stall on Calle Espartero on May 6 when a passing motorist nearly ‘ran him over,’ his brother Rafael said.
In the row that followed, the driver – a muscular 44-year-old, according to reports – allegedly punched Angel in the eye, knocking him to the ground.
“Then he grabbed him by his vest and slammed his head against the pavement,” Rafael added – though other witnesses suggested the attacker may instead have been trying to rouse him.
Shocking footage circulating online shows the aftermath of the tragedy, with Angel’s legs visible and motionless beneath a bar tent as the suspect paces nervously along the pavement.
The victim died from his injuries at Sevilla’s Virgen del Rocio hospital on the next day, according to reports.
Originally from Bollullos Par del Condado near Huelva, Angel had a mental disability and was physically ‘the size of a 12-year-old,’ his family told Canal Sur.
“He had the mind of a ten-year-old. My brother was like a big child,” his sister Sara said.
Rafael, who lived with Angel, said: “Every morning I open the door and his room is empty, and I still expect to see my brother there.
“I feel a huge emptiness – I’m completely devastated, it’s hard to deal with. He went to work on Wednesday and never came back.”
The suspect, who according to reports has a prior criminal record, was arrested at the scene by local police.
A judge has since ordered him into provisional detention on suspicion of homicide.
