WITNESSES of an attempted hold-up at a jewel store outside Barcelona leapt in to stop the violent crime, leaving the thief empty-handed.
A suspect in Terrassa aiming to get rich quick in a bling burglary was stopped before he managed to snatch a single ring.
Around 8pm on Monday evening, the owner of a jewellery store in the Can Parellada neighbourhood was held up by a 45-year-old man who broke in.
The offender took out a gun and hit the owner with his weapon, causing non-serious injuries.

Before he was able to steal anything, people who witnessed the incident bravely jumped in to stop the perpetrator.
The courageous intervention managed to block the culprit from taking accessories or cash from the register.
Both the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Terressa Municipal Police were alerted and arrived at the scene.

The suspect was arrested and taken in by the authorities.
The case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Unit (DIC) for further investigation.
Another attempted robbery took place at a jewellery store in Roda de Ter on April 27, where several suspects entered with firearms but also came out empty-handed.
