FOR many people living on the Costa del Sol, chronic joint pain has become an accepted part of life.
A knee that makes the stairs a challenge, a shoulder that has not been right for years or a back that has been troubling them for years.
And in many cases, the advice from a GP or specialist and a scan result has been roughly the same: you may need surgery.
Dr. Arvin Yarollahi has spent nearly two decades hearing that story from patients, and offering them a different path.

Dr. Yarollahi is an orthopaedic and sports medicine specialist with a subspecialty in spine surgery, licensed to practice in the UK, Sweden and Spain.
After training in some of Scandinavia’s top clinics he set up a leading medical practice in Sweden treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
He has also become a specialist in ‘longevity and regenerative medicine’, a field that has advanced rapidly over the past decade and is now changing how doctors approach joint degeneration, tendon injuries and chronic pain.
And now Dr. Yarollahi has launched in southern Spain.
His regenerative orthopaedic clinic CellOrtho is based in Marbella and operating from the Skin Medical Clinic, one of the area’s most established private medical facilities.

“A significant proportion of my patients have already been told surgery is their only remaining option,” he explains.
“For many, it is simply not true. The evidence base for regenerative orthopaedic treatments has grown considerably, and we now have many options that can reduce pain, support tissue repair and restore function without an operation.”
CellOrtho offers three core treatments.
This first, Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, known as PRP, uses a small sample of the patient’s own blood, which is processed to concentrate growth factors and platelets, and is injected directly into the affected joint or tendon.
Because it is derived entirely from the patient’s own biology, the risk of adverse reaction is extremely low, and the clinical evidence for its use in knee osteoarthritis, shoulder problems, tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis on the feet is well established.

The clinic also offers Cell-Free Signalling Therapy and Cellular Therapy, progressively advanced orthobiologic treatments designed for patients with more complex issues or those who have not responded fully to PRP.
All treatments are performed by Dr. Yarollahi personally, using protocols adapted to each patient’s individual profile.
Many of his patients fly into Marbella for treatment after struggling to access comparable care in their home countries, including Germany and the UK, or after being placed on long surgical waiting lists.
“The Costa del Sol has a large international community with high expectations of good medical care,” says Dr. Yarollahi. “We wanted to bring the kind of advanced regenerative orthopaedics that has been available in leading Scandinavian and British clinics to patients who are already here, or who are willing to travel for the right treatment.”
CellOrtho offers a free video consultation for new patients, allowing Dr. Yarollahi to review each case and advise whether regenerative treatment is likely to be effective before any commitment is made.
Patients with knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, back pain, elbow conditions or sports injuries are encouraged to get in touch.
