A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl has died in northern Spain after her father allegedly forgot she was locked inside his car for over six hours on one of the hottest days of the year.
The tragedy happened on Wednesday in Brion, A Coruña).
According to investigators, the father dropped off his older son but failed to take the toddler to nursery after receiving a phone call while driving near his workplace.
The man parked the car and went into work, reportedly unaware that his daughter was still strapped inside the vehicle.
She remained inside the parked car for several hours as temperatures climbed during the day.
When the girl’s mother arrived at the nursery to pick up her daughter, staff told her the child jad never arrived.Â
The mother reportedly found the little girl inside the vehicle at around 3.30pm.
Emergency services rushed the child to the Bertamirans health centre after she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Medics and ambulance crews tried to revive her but could not save her life.
They transferred the girl to a hospital in Santiago de Compostela for an autopsy.
Spain’s Guardia Civil have opened an investigation into the incident.
Officers are now trying to establish the exact sequence of events.
Psychologists from Galicia’s emergency response team are also supporting the family.
Local officials in Brion have declared two days of mourning.
Flags will fly at half-mast on council buildings, and residents will hold a minute’s silence in the town square on Friday.
