GAME of Thrones star Sophie Turner has been spotted in Almeria on location for the new Tomb Raider series.

Turner, best-known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, was seen in Almeria’s central Plaza de Pavia.

She was seen on set in character as video-game heroine Lara Croft for the new Tomb Raider series, written and produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, of Fleabag and Killing Eve fame.

For the shoot, Plaza de Pavia has been transformed into Cairo, with shopfronts rebranded in Arabic and the area is closed off to all but residents as filming continues.

After a stint filming in Girona, the crew arrived in Almeria last week shooting in the Tabernas desert before making their way to the city.

The Tabernas Desert has long been a favourite of Hollywood location scouts, blockbusters including Lawrence of Arabia and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly also shot in Almeria.
