A GERMAN shepherd has been rescued by firefighters after falling off a cliff into the Ronda gorge.Â
The incident occurred at around 9pm last Wednesday, when a group of young people were walking the dog along Paseo de Los Ingleses.
To their surprise, the animal suddenly broke loose from its leash and jumped over the safety wall, falling around 60 metres down the gorge.

Firefighters and the local police undertook a night-long search operation, with one firefighter rappelling down the cliff face in the dark to find the dog.
The German shepherd was rescued on a ledge of the cliffside, in the same area it had fallen the previous day at around 12.25pm the next day.
After being rescued, it was taken to the vets for treatment. Miraculously, it had only suffered minor injuries, despite the long fall and having been trapped all night on the ledge.
According to El Diaro de Ronda, medical personnel had also shown up the previous day to treat the owner of the dog, who had suffered an anxiety attack after watching the animal fall.
The dog was dispatched from the vets shortly after and returned to his owners, who expressed gratitude to the firefighters and police involved in the successful rescue.
