New heatwave warnings for Costa Blanca with Saharan hot air mass set to last for days

A BRIEF respite from last week’s heatwave has ended in Alicante province with a yellow warning for extreme temperatures this Tuesday.

The State Meteorological Agency(Aemet) says that the new heat blast will be accompanied by dust and haze from the Sahara.

Tuesday’s yellow alert is in place between 1pm and 8.59pm.

Temperatures could reach up to 38C in some inland areas of the region, with coastal values hitting 33C.

Inland areas will go onto the second-highest Aemet alert- orange- on Wednesday with 40C highs expected.

Aemet will once again activate a yellow alert for the north and south of the Costa Blanca.

Maximums of up to 37C are expected on Wednesday with the warning running again between 1pm and 8.59pm.

Humid tropical nights will bring a minimum figure of 23C at best, making it difficult to sleep.

Heat accumulated during the day continues indoors leading to high overnight temperatures.

There is no sign of any major fall in values, with forecasts suggesting intense heat levels running into next week.

This is all down to a new mass of very warm air, predicting to last for days.
