ALICANTE-ELCHE airport has once again been rated the best airport in Spain according to European rankings compiled by holiday rental portal Holidu.
The standing is based on an average score obtained on Google Maps reviews with figures collated during August.
The Costa Blanca airport also occupies sixth place among the 85 airports with the highest passenger volume in Europe.

Holidu said that over 2.4 million Google Maps contributions were collated.
The facility is in sixth place for the fourth consecutive year and has a score of 4.3 out of 5- making it five consecutive years of having the same figure.
Spain had the best average score in Europe among countries with more than three airports that were analysed, with 4.08 out of 5.
Next is Portugal, with an average of 3.93; Greece, with 3.75; Germany, with 3.69; Italy, with 3.68; the United Kingdom, with 3.63; and France, with 3.56.
Alicante-Elche airport is a key hub for foreign tourists visiting the Costa Blanca and will almost certainly clock up a new annual passenger record this year.
Within Europe, the airport beat off major facilities like Rome-Fiumicino, Vienna, Munich and Amsterdam-Schiphol.
Lying sixth in the European standings, it easily off other key Spanish airports like Madrid-Barajas appearing in 20th place, Palma de Mallorca in 21st and Barcelona-El Prat in 30th spot.
User ratings offer a complementary perspective to other statistics such as the monthly passenger numbers published by Spain’s airport operator Aena.
