ALICANTE-ELCHE airport recorded an impressive 11.1% increase in passenger numbers in July compared to a year earlier.
Airport operator Aena said on Wednesday that over 2.3 million people used the facility last month- a third of which came from the United Kingdom.
The total for the year so far is just short of 12.5 million passengers- up by 9.6% on the first seven months of 2025.

It means that everything is on schedule to surpass last year’s record figure of 20 million people.
That is based on the fact that the airport has to have an average of 1.4 million travellers per month, with August and September figures to come which are two of the busiest months of the year.
Aena said that international travellers in July clocked up almost 2.1 million people- 11.6% more than a year earlier- accounting for three-quarters of business.
Domestic users grew annually by 7.4% last month to 250,000.
United Kingdom passengers dominated with 734,000 travellers, followed by Germany on around 144,000; Poland on 125,000; and Belgium with approximately 119,000.
There were 14,281 flights in July, which was 11.3% up on the same month last year.
