A FUGITIVE drug trafficker attacked and injured several Spanish police officers in a desperate bid to break free after being arrested in Alicante.
The 44-year-old Lithuanian was taken into custody after officers discovered he was wanted by authorities in his homeland over a major methamphetamine haul, SUR reported.
Cops eventually subdued him and slapped him with fresh charges including assaulting a law enforcement officer and causing bodily harm.
The man had been driving a stolen vehicle when Spanish police swooped in and arrested him.
He was carrying identity documents belonging to another person, but officers quickly established his true identity.
They then discovered he was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued by Lithuania over drug trafficking.
Lithuanian authorities caught him with around 1.5kg of methamphetamine in 2017, and the European warrant was issued in 2023.
He is now facing 15 years in jail and extradition proceedings in Spain, as well as charges over the alleged assault on the officers and document forgery.
