Costa Blanca airport clocks up its busiest ever June with a third of travellers coming from the UK

ALICANTE-ELCHE airport clocked up over 2.1 million passengers in June- a 10.5% rise compared to a year ago, with another monthly record being set.

It means the Costa Blanca facility operated by Aena has welcomed over 10 million travellers in the first half of the year, which 9.3% up on the same period in 2025.

Over the first six months of 2026, there were around 64,000 flights- up by 9.5%.

June’s figures were dominated by the international market with a 11.3% increase on the same month last year, with a total of 1,880,424 passengers.

Domestic traffic registered 242,702 passengers, a 5.6% increase.

United Kingdom travellers accounted for a third of all passengers using the airport with over 700,000 people.

That was followed by Germany, with around 128,000; Poland, with around 118,000; and the Netherlands, with more than 112,000.

A total of 13,153 flights were operated in June- an increase of 12.1% compared to a year earlier.

From January to June 2026, the airports in the Aena network in Spain have registered 156,246,234 passengers (3.7% more than in 2025), which is a lower growth total than that recorded in the first half of last year.

In addition, 1,332,699 flights were run (+4%) and 664,355 tonnes of goods were transported, 4.2% more than in the same period of 2025.

Last month, airports operated by Aena in Spain had 31,639,672 passengers, 3.8% more than in the same month of 2025.
