THREE illegal off-site car parks in the vicinity of Alicante-Elche airport have been closed for operating without a licence.
A purge on unauthorised sites was started earlier this year by Elche City Council.
The latest closure, according to the authority, was executed on their behalf a few days ago by the Elche Policia Local.

Officers swooped on the unnamed parking lot operating on land that had previously been the subject of an order demanding that activities end there.
The three closed sites could accommodate a total of over 4,500 cars.
The two others previously visited by the police failed in court bids to temporarily reopen while legal challenges were made over the closures.
Elche City Council says their operation will continue over coming weeks with more closures expected at sites that were opened after the authority passed a motion to deal with the issue on April 23.
Over 110 sites have been identified with 81 inspections carried out.
The council said every facility was subject to some kind of administrative irregularity, although not all are in the same legal situation.
45 operators date back to before Elche changed its General Plan and are carrying out to work to see if they can be legalised.
The owners have three months to submit technical projects, security measures and the rest of the required documentation.
Meanwhile, around 30 facilities have provisional licenses granted in 2005 that are being reviewed, because in many cases, their surface areas have expanded or have have changed the nature of their business.
Elche City Council have emphasised that their objective is not close off-site car parks but to ensure that all operate under equal and legal circumstances.
It added that it will act firmly against facilities that do not have a license, but always with ‘full respect’ for administrative procedures that a business may choose to go through.
