A NUMBER of Brits are among at least 60 tourists that were rushed to hospital following a toxic gas leak in a hotel swimming pool on the Costa Del Sol.
The affected, which included children and elderly, were transferred from an unnamed hotel in Benahavis to Costa del Sol hospital for urgent medical treatment.
All of the affected have now been discharged, a source at the hospital has since confirmed to the Olive Press.
The pool has since been sealed off for ‘maintenance reasons’, with health officials seen running water analysis tests.
The poisoning was caused by a reported pressure rupture in a pool pump, which meant chlorine and other acids leaked into the pool, according to health authorities.
This imbalance of pH concentrations and chlorine levels lead to the formation of toxic substances, which can poison those in the pool.
Some symptoms include irritated eyes, breathing difficulties, and gastrointestinal disorders.
