A SUSPECT on the run for the murder of his Hungarian flatmate in Benahavis has attempted to slit his own throat as Guardia Civil officers moved in to arrest him.
The 60-year-old Argentinian man was cornered by investigators in Istan today after 10 days on the run.
He is the prime suspect in the killing of 45-year-old Melinda, who was discovered dead in her Los Arqueros home on July 21.

Officers tracked the fugitive to the town, located about 30km from the crime scene, where he reportedly turned a blade on himself rather than surrender.
The arrest brings an end to an intensive manhunt by the Guardia Civil following the grisly discovery last week.
Neighbours raised the alarm shortly before 10am after hearing a loud scream from the property.

Witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene in a car at high speed.
Emergency services rushed to the urbanisation but were unable to save the victim.
She was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to her neck.
According to local reports in Sur, the suspect had been living with Melinda for around two months after she rented him a room.
The pair had reportedly been in a relationship during the pandemic.
Her body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Malaga for an autopsy.
