AROUND another 50 migrants have been intercepted after landing a high-speed boat on a beach in southern Spain.
The group disembarked at Cala de los Dentoles, a cove also known as Cala Dorada in the Calblanque nature park in Cartagena, early on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services from the 112 network received the alert at 7.36am, according to regional broadcaster La 7.
Officers from the Guardia Civil intercepted the group, who had made the journey from Algeria, shortly after they arrived on the sand.
Footage shared on social media shows the migrants arriving on a familiar speed boat, equipped with a large outboard motor and a navigation radar favoured by the region’s drug traffickers.
It is the second time in a week that people smugglers have dropped dozens of migrants off onto a Murcia beach, and the third time in less than a month.
Wednesday’s arrival brings the total number of migrants landing on the Murcia coastline to over 100 in just the last week.
Meanwhile, a similar vessel deposited around 60 people at the same cove on July 31, regional radio station Onda Regional reported.
