BRITISH holidaymakers faced a terrifying flight to Spain after smoke filled the cabin of a plane approaching Malaga airport.

The easyJet flight from Bristol was forced to declare an emergency as pilots battled the mystery smoke while coming in to land on Monday morning.

Both pilots had to put on oxygen masks as they alerted air traffic controllers to the problem.

The EZY2715 flight, which had departed Bristol shortly after 6am, was then given priority to land on runway 12.

The plane managed to touch down safely at 9.23am, according to flight tracking websites, while the Costa del Sol airport scrambled emergency crews as a precaution.

All passengers were able to disembark normally as local staff met the aircraft, with the aeroplane leaving the runway without incident shortly afterwards.

The source of the smoke on board remains unconfirmed.

Malaga airport is now operating as normal.
